Procter & Gamble CEO David S. Taylor stepped down from his post as the company’s leader on November 1, 2021. In the meantime, several other candidates have been vying for the position, including Howard Morgens, L V Vaidyanathan, and Richard Deupree. However, there is no guarantee that any of them will be chosen. After all, the board of directors has the final say on which candidate is chosen.
David Taylor
. He has been in the company for the past four decades. His background includes a wide range of leadership roles in the company’s core businesses. In recent years, he has been responsible for the growth of P&G’s core consumer brands and innovation.
He is a member of The Business Roundtable and serves on the Boards of several other companies. Additionally, he is the Chairman of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, which works to curb single-use plastics.
After graduating from Duke University, he joined Procter & Gamble in 1980. Over the next several decades, he held increasing responsibilities in North America, Asia, and Europe. During his time in the company’s health and beauty business, he was responsible for Crest, Olay, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, and others.
Howard Morgens
During his decades-long career at Procter & Gamble, Howard Morgens helped create revolutionary changes in television advertising. He also oversaw the introduction of Pampers disposable diapers, Downy fabric softeners, and Folgers coffee.
After graduating from Harvard Business School in ’33, Morgens began his career with P&G as a salesman in Kansas City. Eventually, he would become the company’s CEO.
A former president of P&G, he was responsible for its entry into the paper goods market. His leadership allowed the company to quadruple its sales from 1957 to 1974.
As the economy weakened, consumer interest in value began to grow. This resulted in private labels’ market share increasing by 50 percent. Also, the company entered the healthcare industry and expanded its beauty aids.
Richard Deupree
Aside from its iconic products like Tide detergent and Crest toothpaste, Procter & Gamble (P&G) is one of the biggest consumer goods companies in the world. In fact, the company is the largest in the United States. It is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During its 150 years in business, P&G has become a trailblazer in the industry. Procter & Gamble has developed an extensive marketing and advertising plan. The company also built manufacturing plants throughout the United States and in the United Kingdom. Several of its products, such as Tide detergent and Cover Girl makeup, have become household names.
Despite its huge success, P&G has faced a number of challenges. One of these was moving beyond family governance. Another was the recession.
L V Vaidyanathan
L V Vaidyanathan is a seasoned executive who joined Procter & Gamble as an intern in 1995 and has been with the company for nearly two decades. He has held various leadership roles, both in India and Southeast Asia, and is now returning home to lead the charge in a business that is reshaping the landscape of FMCG.
He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad. Vaidyanathan has also done a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Nagpur.
During his tenure at P&G India, he led a transformational campaign that included a Rs 500 crore fund and a series of initiatives to accelerate growth in the untapped rural markets of the sub-continent. Not only that, but the company has achieved an impressive 50% female representation in its leadership team.
Jon Moeller
Procter & Gamble, the maker of Tide laundry detergent, Gillette razors, and many other consumer products, faces a challenge in the form of Chief Executive Jon Moeller. He has been part of the P&G leadership team for over two decades.
Since 2009, Moeller has been recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the top executive leaders in the world. His accomplishments include helping to build several of P&G’s core businesses.
As the CEO of Procter & Gamble, Moeller is charged with developing strategies for the company’s people to execute. For instance, the company recently announced a 5% increase to its quarterly dividend.
Moeller also serves as president and chief operating officer. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors.
